RE: FEAT and Rimland Article on No Fenol FEAT, ARI and No Fenol!!! What's Being Said About The New Enzyme To Break Down Phenols! (LINK TO USE ON INDEX PAGE) "What Parents Are Saying" About No Fenol Dr. Houston's Response To Pangborn and To Parents What Those In Science Are Saying Recently (May 4th, 2002), FEAT, an autism newsletter, published an article in which Dr. Rimland called No Fenol a scam. Parents on discussion boards span a wide spectrum. There are Ph.D.s in biochemistry who read/respond on the enzyme Yahoo board, nurses, doctors, pharmacists, educators, lawyers... and, finally, last but certainly not least...good old moms with a lot of common sense who often know a great deal more about autism than even their doctors and are out to save their children!!! I myself have 10 years of university, my father is a doctor, my brother is among the very best in the world in MRI technology (See Question Everything!). We, together, as parents, doctors, lawyers, biochemists, moms and dads, etc., on the enzyme discussion board, understand not only the issues, but the "big bucks business of autism" all too well. As Dr. Houston and others in science point out (in the links below) the FEAT article made many false assumptions about the product in terms of its composition, providing absolutely no scientific data or backing of any kind to support the claims being made. The article was very insulting to parents of autistic children who are on this product...basically saying we were all being taken by an "Internet scam". I wanted to provide this opportunity for "other parents" to see for themselves what these enzymes are doing for our kids... by reading some of what these "supposedly scammed" biochemists, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, educators, lawyers, and moms...Parents of Autistic Kids...What We Are Saying!!!...because we are the ones with the living labs, aren't we? We have our children's blood work, the behavior changes on video, the comments from teachers, and yes, even from doctors about how our kids have changed for the better, etc... don't we? Each parent of an autistic child must judge for himself/herself whether or not these enzymes could help their child... and each parent must determine what is truth or fiction in all treatment options based on credible data and observation of what they see in their own child. As a parent, I always remind myself of what's important in the end, and I am of the firm opinion that "When any organization becomes more important than its cause, perhaps it is time to shut the doors!"
